If properly stored in the refrigerator, the product will last up to 6 months. We do suggest pushing the tomatoes under the oil or add more to keep the tomatoes covered which keeps the tomatoes red and pliable for future uses.
Quality is always a priority at Mooney Farms. In order to enjoy our product at their optimum quality and freshness, we encourage you to use them by the date on the cap, which is our "Best if used by" date.
All of the sun dried tomato products produced at Mooney Farms are gluten free. However, we do produce other products that do contain glutens and do share some of the same equipment. Our Allergen Control Program does address the concern and we do take precautionary measures to prevent it.
Yes. Rabbi Eli Frankel of the Kosher Certification of Kashruth visits our manufacturing facility yearly to inspect our ingredient processing.
In the USDA Nutrient Database for both raw and sun dried tomatoes, 19 grams of raw tomato have 489 mcg of Lycopene and 19 grams of sun dried tomatoes have 7747 mcg of Lycopene. According to this data a standard sun dried tomato actually has 15-16 times more Lycopene than a raw tomato. We have also done our own lab tests and they show that sun dried tomatoes have at least 12 times more Lycopene than a raw tomato. Lycopene is a phytochemical and proven antioxidant that fights free radicals in the body. Recent studies show that a tomato rich diet is associated with a reduced risk of certain conditions including; prostate cancer, digestive disorders, breast, lung and cervical cancer, and heart disease. When olive oil is 100% pure it coagulates, or hardens when refrigerated. Since all of our Bella products are packed in 100% Pure Olive Oil this will happen. To bring the product back to its liquid state simply put out at room temperature 30 minutes or longer before using in a recipe.
